Housekeeping items:
Website is back up; we need to
decide which email service we want to use (MailChimp, WIX, etc)
RP: we are supposed to vote for board members, but we don’t have a big turnout tonight
We are open to suggestions regarding how to increase turnout numbers
RP reports stepping down from presidency, MR declines presidency as well
ONA has a board of 5 positions (president, vice president, secretary, treasurer,
Communications chief and 3 at-large positions)
MR: maybe we should have an event this summer to get people out and interested
AK: maybe we should pick one issue per year to simplify things as people have limited
time and resources
CR: the neighborhood’s biggest problem is zoning; perhaps we could some sort of legal
fund to help us communicate more effectively with the city
RP: we really didn’t have a specific issue to this year (like potential library closure, etc),
although we did have to community fridge
BM: we got a grant for a community pantry and fridge, but we can’t have it on city
property- too much red tape
possibly have it at the garden
we can apply for neighborhood grants through the city
Election of Board Members: nominations(self and otherwise)
President: Charles Roe (self)
Vice President: Amanda Stratton(word of mouth; Amanda not in attendance)
Treasurer: Michael Stratton(word of mouth; Michael not in attendance)
Secretary: vacant (Betsy Nesbitt steps down)
Communications Chief: Marena Mikkelson (self)(SP offers support to this position)
At-large positions: Alison Kiehl (selfl) Jane Margaret Bell (self)
Unanimous passing of all positions by show of hands
Other:
Bobby: representative from Stoner with concerns about traffic speed and volume on his road
AK: would more voices be helpful to bring attention to Stoner’s traffic issues?
Bobby: unsure; COA seems to be more interested in developers than residents quality of life; residents are thinking about getting their own camera to record speeders
BN: historically the neighborhood had been told by APD traffic camera evidence is not allowed in NC
MM: maybe get many voices together to influence
CR: legal representation would work better
Next meeting- Feb. 27th 6pm Cursus Keme
